Northwoods Battered Women’s Shelter is currently seeking applications for all positions: full-time and part-time/fill-in Advocates!

- DHS background study
- valid driver’s license
- problem solving skills
- ability to work independently
- experience working with diverse populations
- excellent communication skills
Preferred qualifications:
- domestic violence experience
- completion, or working towards, a degree in human services field
- Motivational Interviewing certification
Wage and benefits:
- $14.00/hour starting (all positions)
- employer sponsored SEP IRA (all positions)

Shifts/schedule:
Part-time/Fill-in positions-
- 20 hours/week, more hours available for fill-in shifts
- part-time shifts are typically 4-5 hours in length
- fill-in shifts can be 11 and up to 12.5 hours in length
- some weekend shifts (3 weekends every 2 months and/or fill-in weekends)
- fill-in shifts may include any of the full time shifts – day/evening or overnight
Full-time positions-
- 40 hours/week
- shifts are 11 and up to 12.5 hours in length
- every other weekend
- more days off duty than on duty due to longer shifts
- set schedule that runs in a two week long pattern
Duties include:
- Protecting victim confidentiality pursuant to State and Federal laws
- Oversee security of facility
- Assisting individuals in crisis, both over the phone and in person
- Providing advocacy to individuals such as assisting with accessing legal, medical, housing, and other social services and public assistance, filling out orders for protection/harassment orders, and much more
- Completion of program records such as statistical tracking, internal agency documents, and written communications with team
- Assisting with facility cleaning and maintenance
- Providing victim/survivors with information on options and resources
